Privacy Policy

Last updated 6 September 2026

Cartridge is a shelf for the games you play: what's on it, what you thought of them, and the Stacks you build to share your favourites. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

Who runs Cartridge

Cartridge is made by an independent developer. If you have questions about this policy or your data, write to hello@insertcartridge.app.

Accounts

You need an account to use Cartridge. You can create one with Sign in with Apple, Sign in with Google, or an email address and a one-time code — all handled by our authentication provider, Supabase. We never see or store your Apple or Google password, and an emailed code expires shortly after it's sent.

If you sign up with email, we ask for a birth year to confirm you meet the minimum age for an account. We store the year, not a full date of birth.

What we store

What's public

Reviews and Stacks you mark public can be seen by anyone, including people without a Cartridge account, at a link like insertcartridge.app/stack/<id> or on your profile page at insertcartridge.app/@<handle>. Your shelf is private by default; a Stack or review only becomes visible to others when you choose to share it or make it public.

Adding games: barcode, link and video capture

When you add a game by scanning a case, sharing a link, or from a TikTok or Reel, the image, link or video frame you capture is sent to Google Gemini to identify which game it is. We do not store the video or image itself once the game has been identified — only the game it resolved to is added to your shelf.

Game details — titles, cover art, platforms, release years — come from IGDB. Cover art belongs to its respective publishers.

Subscriptions

Cartridge Plus subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat to check what you're subscribed to and to unlock Plus features; RevenueCat and Apple handle your payment details, which Cartridge never sees.

Reporting and blocking

You can report a review, a Stack or a comment you believe breaks our rules, and you can block another account. Reports are reviewed by hand; a report you file, and any resulting decision, is not shown to the account you reported. Blocking someone hides their content from you and yours from them in both directions.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time from within the app. Deleting your account removes your shelf, reviews, Stacks, profile and social activity. Some records may be retained briefly where we're required to for security, fraud prevention or legal reasons.

Sharing

We don't sell your data. We share it only with the service providers who help run Cartridge — Supabase (accounts and data storage), Google Gemini (identifying a game from a capture), IGDB (game data), RevenueCat and Apple (subscriptions) — and only as needed to provide the app.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page if how we handle your data changes, and update the date at the top when we do.
